Day 30: Al’s Excellent Adventure – Vancouver and Beyond

Day 30: Al’s Excellent Adventure – The Final Episode!

This morning, I said goodbye to Kim and Phillip. I already miss them, and not just because they kept feeding me. Spending quality time with them was the perfect pit stop for the soul.

After leaving, I stopped for gas, because road trips run on caffeine and unleaded. Then, of course, I crossed back into Tennessee... and moments later, back into Georgia. My watch? Totally confused. It gave up entirely and decided it now lives in Central Time, permanently.

I got home, tried to reason with it. No luck. So I pulled the classic IT move, cold booted my phone and watch, reconnected my watch, and voilà! Back to Eastern Time, baby.

Honestly, the most dramatic part of this whole 9,000-mile adventure might’ve been convincing my watch we weren't stuck in Kentucky.

Now, let’s talk about the drive. On Day 1, it took me 5.5 hours to make this drive. Today? 7 hours and 35 minutes. Why? Because Atlanta traffic is a vortex of despair where time goes to die. I spent more time parked on I-75 than I did sightseeing in some cities.

But…I MADE IT HOME! 🏠 🎉🎊 😎

Naturally, I did what any exhausted traveler would do after 30 days and 9,000+ miles on the road: I went out to dinner with friends. (Shoutout to Dao, because nothing says "Welcome back to real life" like drowning in miso soup.)

Then I came home, unpacked (well, opened my suitcase and stared at it), and now I’m wired like I just had three espressos—but I know I need sleep. My body says nap; my brain says “Let’s scroll Instagram and Facebook until 3am.”

Sure you are. Just like your watch really thought it was in Central Time. 😎

But seriously, after 30 days, 9,000 miles, mystery time zones, and noodle-fueled reunions. I'm thinking, the GPS should take some credit for this trip. 😎

Now I need to go to bed before I start planning my next trip in my dreams. 🛌✨

Coming soon: the highlight reel of this crazy, unforgettable, GPS-defying journey. Honestly, at this point, I feel like I should get a medal... or at least a free oil change.
